Waud Wine Club

The Waud Wine Club is the result of many jovial social gatherings and an increasing fascination of wine within the Waud family and its extended network of friends.
Many of our growers produce fantastic wines in small quantities and will never get them to Waitrose, Majestic or the Sunday Times Wines Club.

Waud Wines

At Waud Wines we specialise in substance. Working with independent restaurants, niche wine bars and boutique hotels, we know you need more than just a wine supplier. You need an expert guide to help you navigate your wine list, you need experienced designers to assist with wine list creation, and a flexible, local team with your best interests in mind.

Ordalia Sauvignon Blanc 2015

This Ordalia Sauvignon Blanc is a cracking new wine on the Waud Wines list from Dordogne – this is a fantastic ‘entry-level’ offering from a vineyard located around the famous town of Bergerac. A lovely clear golden colour with a pale green tint. You will notice a nose of citrus fruits, particularly lemon and grapefruit. A supple, delicate and fresh white wine with beautiful fruity notes. Ideal with fish and seafood.A seriously good value wine – considering the newly inflated £2.16 duty price!

Vondeling Babiana 2015

Vondeling Babiana 2015 is picking up awards left right and centre. Chenin Blanc and Viognier are favourites for white blends in the Voor Paardeberg. The fullness of the Chenin Blanc, as well as the structure and aroma of the Viognier is tempered by a strong mineral character, which the granite soils promote. The mid palate is very smooth and slightly creamy, but still tight, with a fresh citrus influence and a long, lingering aftertaste he vines naturally yield no more than 5 tons/ha. This ensures concentration.

Clos Pons Alges 2012

Clos Pons Alges has been one of our consistant best sellers. Powerful, balanced, fragrant, and fruity, Alges has a bouquet of pure fruit, surrounded by light touch of wood that makes it elegant and subtle. Berries with a touch of jam, liquorice and cherries over mineral notes, species touch and its notable acidity result in a fresh and enjoyable wine. Balance is the most important part of this elegant and sexy wine, which invites you to drink one glass after another.

Wine investment is nothing new – in the past the English invariably bought more fine wine than they were able to consume and often sold off surplus wines for a profit. As the world became richer, the fine wine market changed considerably. During the 1990s increased demand, particularly from parts of the Far East, increased prices and demand to unprecedented levels and as a result the fine wine market has grown considerably.
