I was lucky enough to take part in a Classic Port Grape varieties and vintage ports tasting from the 90s this week at Church House, just behind Westminster Abbey. We were guided by David Guimaraens, the Technical Director of Fladgate Partnership. The tasting comprised of flights of 1992, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2009 in Taylors, Croft and Fonseca. An opportunity that does not come around very often – and one that will be savoured for a very long time.
Last year, the wine club had an offer of 2011 Vintage Taylor’s Port, that everyone at the tasting was in raptures about. David Guimaraens thinks it will rival the best vintages ever made.
