Spring Portfolio Wine Tasting – Army and Navy Club

Spring Portfolio Wine Tasting – Army and Navy Club

We held our annual Waud Wines Spring Portfolio Tasting at The Army and Navy Club this week where we showcased over 40 wines to a mixture of club members, corporate clients and on-trade representatives.

Our guests worked through the range, starting with the fizz and rose table sampling the delights of Cava, Prosecco, Daumas Gassac Rose Frizant, Cremant from Alsace and then our current house champagne from Pierre Legras. Some of the most popular wines were the Vondeling Rose from South Africa and the Bormettes rose from Provence.

On our ‘White Table Wines’ table, we showed an Albarino, Picpoul de Pinet, our Sauvignon Blanc from Bergerac and a new white Rioja that we are considering bringing in.

Progressing on to the gastronomic whites, highlights included Clos Pons Sisquella, Vondeling Babiana, Jean Aubron Vallet, Louis Cheze Viognier and Zusslin Pinot Gris.

Our table reds were up next, showcasing our new Brunel de la Gardine Cotes du Rhone (arriving July 2017), Clos Pons Jan Petit, Tuilerie du Puy Tradition Claret and club favourite – Gran Verosso from Veneto.

Once our guests had sampled the first 30 or so wines, they just had the red gastronomic wines to finish, including 2 vintages of Chateau Musar, Vondeling Erica Shiraz, 2 wines from Puech Haut in Languedoc and Font de la Figueras from Priorat.

We thank the RAG for their hospitality and look forward to returning there in due course.
