Waud Wines were very pleased to host a Corporate Wine Tasting at PWC’s 1 Embankment Place office for 80 members of their legal and tax teams last night.
This was a #NextGeneration event where they were encouraging the different teams to mix and network.
After flying through 5 magnums of Mas de Daumas Gassac Rose for the reception drink, we sat down for the blind tasting competition.
There were 15 teams made up of 5 or 6 members – with four rounds of wines to try and correctly guess what they thought they were.
Firstly each group picked themselves a team name – and highlights included ‘Vino Nothing’ and ‘The Desperate Housewines’.
For each round, there were 3 points up for grabs. Teams had to correctly state whether:
- Whether the wine is from the Old World or New World
- What country the wine is from – eg: France, Spain, South Africa or New Zealand
- What grape variety the wine is – eg: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier or Chenin Blanc
On the last round, double points were up for grabs and the team at the back ‘8 Hateful 8’ took the spoils and won the magnum of Mas de Daumas Gassac Rose Frizzant.
Wines on Show
Paco & Lola – Ophalum Albarino 2013 (SPAIN)
Domaine les Chenevieres – Macon Villages 2012 (FRANCE)
Falesco – Vitiano 2012 (ITALY)

After the tasting, guests were able to try some of their favourite wines from the evening – this time not blind!
Many thanks for PWC for inviting us to host the evening, it was very good fun indeed and everyone seemed to enjoy it very much.
