Waud Wines were pleased to host our fourth wine tasting event with Utilize, a leading IT company that specialises in IT Support, Network Support, Network and Internet Security, Project Delivery, Virtualisation and Cloud.

60 members of their staff and clients gathered for an Italian themed wine tasting at Gordon Ramsay’s Union Street Cafe restaurant in SE1.

After flying through the Tenuta Amadio Prosecco on arrival, we moved on to Sicily where we enjoy the first white of the night – Tasca D’Almerita Bianco Regaleali 2016. This was then followed by a new wine on our list, Soave DOC Terre di Valgrande DOC 2016 from Verona, that seemed to be a crowd pleaser.

Then to please the red fans in the group, we travelled to Puglia for the first of two wines from the San Marzano estate. Cantina San Marzano – Il Pumo Negroamaro 2015. This wine was commented to be dangerously easy drinking!

Our second red of four was Tormaresca Neprica 2015 that is owned by the famous Antinori family – a stunning blend of Negromaro, Primitivo and Cab Sauvignon.

Our next red was from Poggio al Tesoro in Tuscany – this Mediterra is made by the Allegrini family, another fabled family in Italy.

Saving the best until last, San Marzano Riserva ‘Anniversario 62’ 2014. 100% Primitivo from Puglia. This was the top gun wine that is poured out of one of the heaviest bottles you will find.
